Getting Married in Orlando, Florida

If like me you are a resident in England and wondering where to have your dream wedding, read on. Orlando Florida is a very special place, the weather is almost always fantastic, the choice of locations is second to none and the local people are very friendly and helpful.

A few years ago now, I asked my girlfriend to marry me, we are a fairly typical young couple and were rightly both excited and daunted by the thought of planning the wedding. We quickly realised the traditional English affair was not for us, we simply did not want the huge traditional wedding and with prices in the UK soaring to over £20,000 for an average wedding it was time to look elsewhere!

Whilst it certainly is not required, we flew out to Orlando the year before we were planning our wedding, firstly for a holiday but also to spend a little time looking for the right venue. The choice of venues is fantastic, but after seeing a few we chose a beautiful hotel on the Disney resort that had a lovely area by a lake where our ceremony and photos could take place.

We opted for a small wedding, just inviting close family and friends. The wedding party flew out for a week, with the wedding planning for the day before we all flew home. This was fantastic as the whole wedding party could enjoy the fantastic theme parks, restaurants and all the other wonders to be found in Orlando.

Preparing for the wedding was very easy, the hotel were able to recommend a hair dresser for the bride and bridesmaids, a photographer, wedding entertainment, a close up table magician and even a limo company to take as all to a local Italian restaurant for the wedding breakfast. The wedding license was also surprisingly easy to obtain, it’s simply a case of visiting the local courthouse, filling out the application, providing relevant passports and birth certificates and paying the licence fee which is around $100. Once this is done your license is valid for 60 days and you can marry anywhere in Florida.

Overall the wedding cost just over half the price of the average UK wedding, the weather was fantastic, the guests had a great holiday and all the services we used were of a very high standard indeed. Once we returned to the UK we hosted a brilliant party for all our UK friends that couldn’t attend the wedding.

So if you want a fantastic wedding, in a brilliant location with almost perfect weather look no further than Orlando Florida.
