Amelia is an absolute chocoholic and the capital of Belgium was not picked by chance, when I decided we should go on a holiday. You can always go there by car or bus or stay in a hotels in Ansalonga Shops for desserts of different size were existing on every avenue in the downtown zone and very near to our Brussels accommodation, therefore if she required some sweets, the only thing I ought to do is to go down and purchase some. Amelia’s favorite chocolate stores were Leonidas which are very popular with the local people, Marcolini which is regarded as the greatest shop for highest quality Belgian chocolates. After that we learned that more affordable are the candy in Chocopolis and Maison Renardy stores.

Our evenings in Brussels were spend in some great eating places and good pubs, where we experimented with the local draught beer that we found out might be bitter or sugary – based on cherries. Another drink that the local people adore is a specific blend of sparkling wine and white wine. Amelia loved most the Brasserie De l’Union bar with its wooden bar, but I liked most the Bier Circus due to the vast selection of beers. The pub closest to our own holiday apartment in Brussels was Delirium Café which was also very close to the Grand Place too.

On one of the nights we went for some dancing and we first visited the Dirty Dancing night clubs where they played house music, after which we went to Recyclart club for some drum and bass. On the next night after we’d a great meal, we visited a jazz club that was recommended, named Sounds Jazz Club where we stayed till the early morning.

Amelia was happy that we got so much fun outside at the pubs and clubs, to go visiting sites and to be able to rest a lot in our holiday Brussels suite. We genuinely enjoyed our stay, got engaged and decided to come back.

A day of shopping in Brussels

Following my question the night before and the amazing meal we had at the restaurant, we were not so wanting to leave bed on the next morning and we had a quiet pleasant morning having espresso and eating breakfast in our Brussels apartment. We decided to spend this day shopping and walking along the streets of the Belgium capital. Therefore, we initially went to the Dansaert area where we entered some good shops and afterwards to the la Bourse location where we’d a snack at a trendy café there.

There after we went to the Rue Neuve, which is a long street of retailers that however can be pricey.

Our next stop was the City 2 Mall where Amelia purchased some clothes and I purchased a couple of books I was in search of back at home and could not find. After that we had some pleasure time at the Galleria Agora, which is a type of a bazaar with lots of unusual but cheap goods. The following stop we made was very contrary with regards to high quality, style and price. The final purchasing stop we made was at the uptown Haut De La Ville area where we entered wonderful jewellery stores and haute couture boutiques.

On the way returning to our Brussels holiday apartment, we passed through the image of the city – the Manneken Pis and were stunned to see there were not numerous people in front of it. Thus, we made some great pictures there.

Then, tired from the shopping, but happy with all the things we bought, we went back to the Brussels apartment we had and had a good long sleep before our next evening out, during which we wished to make some night photos and to drink ale at a nearby pub.

Important question in Brussels

I’ve been seeing Amelia for an year already and I wanted to spend a number of days with her on a vacation, where to enjoy some relaxing time and ask her an essential question that was going through my head for a while now. I knew she loves chocolates and she has never been to Belgium, and so in February I bought tickets for our Easter holiday to Brussels. This was her present for the Saint Valentine’s Day and she was so delighted and satisfied that she rushed into choosing the best accommodation in Brussels for us.

We were both working very hard and required a good rest, even for a couple of days and considered this holiday as an escape from all sorts of things and a chance to acquire great night’s sleep and to be pampered. Therefore, Amelia selected an excellent one-bedroom apartment in Brussels, that was presented properly arranged and furnished and might be rented for 5 days at a reasonable price.

After we showed up, a taxi brought us to our Brussels holiday apartment and went out immediately, as we were thrilled explore the city. Amelia had a thorough plan of what is to be seen and accomplished here and we headed towards the Statue of Europe, the Royal Palace and then the Museum of Musical Instruments.

After that short sightseeing trip we went back to our vacation home in Brussels, which was very easily approachable, had some sleep and a bath and dressed for our first dining out. Before heading towards the restaurant we liked during the day, we went to the Grand Place-Grote Markt and enjoyed the huge flower carpet. Now there, among so many people and wonderful flowers with head-spinning aroma, I asked Amelia to become my wife. Just like that. She was absolutely amazed and overwhelmed and could not talk at all, thus she just nodded her head.
